Ronald Reagan vilified the phrase, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.” So launched decades of federal powers being limited in favor of state action and private-sector solutions. As a result, we are now woefully unprepared to adequately combat multiple national crises, from climate change to the COVID-19 pandemic.
