In another favor to the president’s allies in Big Tech, Trump administration officials are trying to shutter the San Francisco field office of the Justice Department’s antitrust enforcement division — earning backlash from both Republican and Democratic lawmakers. Closing this regulatory outpost in Silicon Valley’s backyard would undermine ongoing monopolization lawsuits against Apple and Google currently being prosecuted by litigators in that very office. Those cases were brought by both Biden regulators and even Trump’s own administration in his first term.
