Before billionaire Trump adviser Elon Musk launched a crusade against diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, his electric vehicle company Tesla issued a report in 2020 bragging about its commitment to “integrate diversity, equity and inclusion principles and practices into the DNA of our company.”
In its first — and only — “DEI impact” report, Tesla affirmed its commitment to affirmative action, boasting of its 60 percent non-white workforce. “We are proud to be a majority-minority company, and we are proud to report that our business reflects the underrepresented communities that have struggled to break through the roadblocks to equal opportunity,” noted the company.
