LEVER WEEKLY: All They Had To Do Was Nothing
Democrats had all the leverage to help workers ā instead, they used that leverage to help their railroad industry donors.

And who is standing behind the President, grinning smugly, but the Liberal darling, Mr. transportation secretary.

I also find it suspicious that Joe Biden and The Dems, falsely declared a done deal to end negotiations prior to the final 2022 campaign push, and now claim there is no time to negotiate. Your summary was perfect on the current situation and I seem to recall you implied we would be here in earlier reporting. The only ray of sunshine for me in this fiasco is how supportive the comments of the American people have been to this labor quality of life issue. I subscribe to numerous journalists across the spectrum and have been surprised and uplifted by this sign of America as it can be.

Thank you for all the reporting The Lever has done on this issue. As a railroad family we are used to media not reporting on union member issues and if they do, not getting the facts straight. You nailed it!

There is always something that breaks the camels back. That one straw that toppled the load. Biden toppled that load for me by signing that agreement to end the strike. I only voted for Biden so we wouldnāt get Trump. Period. He WILL NOT get my vote next time . Neither will my Representatives . I bet Iām not the only Voter that feels that way. What a pity. We could have done so much good and this is all wasted. Biden and his group BETRAYED the working class. BETRAYED. Thatās a pretty serious word.

This falls squarely on Joe Biden. He did not need to push for this legislation. It is a betrayal to workers. When it comes to their employment, voters DO NOT have short memories. This will not be forgotten and will have repercussions in the 2024 elections. Joe, don't even think of running again.

After this I can no longer vote for Democrats. They didnt even wait a month before going back on their midterm campaign promises. Never again.
And the DSA, they need to expel their congressional members that voted to break the strike.

ā¦big surprise

Perhaps, all is not lost. Even David Sirota finally gets that the D. C. Demwits running congress are the #1 opponent for the working class.

All that money into politician's pockets over years reeks of bribery, what we used to call money for influence. Politicans also operate on expectations of big money changing hands before they act, and that's a form of extortion. It is corruption, no matter what else we call it.

The corrupt neolibs can not be ousted wholesale fast enough...

Weāll, once again thatās capitalismā¦with help from the Anti-labor party formerly known as democrats

Doesn't everyone already know that anything Biden said on the campaign trail was only intended to derail Bernie? And would never be actually implemented? Health care (whatever happened to "public option immediately" LOL), worker's rights, minimum wage... Biden's constituents were always only the donors... and the crumbs continue to be spread to everyone else.
