I remember when Donald Rumsfeld refused to divest his portfolio when becoming Sec Def. Speaker Pelosi is demonstrating the same hubris. It is just sickening.

I love that quote by "Octavia Butler" In my lifetime we've had the cowards W and Cheney and the wars that cowards start, the thief Clinton (FFS they even stole furniture from the White House when they left). The fool Trump (obvious). Biden is mostly a fool just because his brain is not working anymore (i.e. Reagan's 2nd term). Not sure where I'd put Nixon, Carter, Reagan, HW, and Obama. Several choices. I've been lucky we haven't yet had a real tyrant. Might have been Hillary. The way she laughed about Ghadaffi and wanted that no-fly zone in Syria, not to mention the whole Arkancide "conspiracy theory"

Pelosi's commitment to the people has always been half interested (certainly lacking passion) and she's quite out front about it. Given her attitude on this issue. Please keep a magnifying glass on her. Continued scrutiny of her various decisions in the context of her attitude on this free trading exercise by House members and the size of her husband's (hers?) portfolio and additional wealth is required in order to needle enough of her Bay Area constituents to can her for good. For some unknown reason she's treated like a monarch and seems made of teflon. Absolutely, it is time for someone skilled, experienced, smart and passionate for the People's sake to be Speaker.

The more they sneer about feasting upon our loved-ones' homes and our indentured serfdom; ER, ICU, PhARMA & chronic PASC debt; the more we love "our" sneeringly senile, zombie kleptocrats? Here we go, into Let 'er RIP 4.0. Cornell, NYU, Princeton shutting down, as NYC simply feeds staff and vectors both variants by infecting little kids. Some of whom MIS-C, a few die and the rest to suffer chronic PASC & pro-inflammatory cytokine organ damage (indenturing them to Nancy's PhARMA, FIRE & private equity Sector pals for decades, as Biden's Catastrophe Capitalism cartels feeds)

Thanks for the World Inequality Report. I read Piketty's book, Capital and Ideology, earlier this year. We need to be reminded on a regular basis how unfair and sadistic people can be when it comes to NOT sharing the wealth. The only part of the globe that has a somewhat respectable share of wealth is in Europe, where tax rates for the wealthy are closest to being fair. There is so much suffering around the planet and yet the rich will never have enough. The real problem is the way the top 10% divides us up according to race, religion, gender, geography other class divisions. As long as they keep reminding us of our differences they can play us off against each other.

I took a look at the Public Citizen "Dual Agents" report this morning. Looks like overwhelming evidence that there is coordination between the regulated candidate's campaign and the unregulated secret 501C4 money used to blast TV watchers with negative ads. I think the vast majority of Americans who watch TV hate these negative ads. That includes Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and the silent majority that doesn't even vote. Although the professional political operatives and the big spenders who corrupt both parties would not like this, I think it would be possible to pass an amendment to the U.S. Constitution in three-fourths of the states (urban and rural) that would overrule the Supreme Court and require the identity of donations to these 501C4 organizations that produce to negative ads to be public information. If this happened the billionares would have less influence on the political campaigns and the candidates who run for office would have to take responsbibility for their campaigns. Free speech would still be speech for sale, but at least their would be some accountability.

The Golden proposal for SALT is what I suggested to Sirota way back at the beginning. It targets for property tax relief just those people for whom that regressive tax is a burden. It makes the middle to upper income segment of the works class our allies not our enemies. I believe what we have seen with Sirota’s position on this are the limits of bourgeois radicalism. He was outstanding in identifying before practically anyone else that SALT at80K was a giveaway to the capitalists. But then he called anyone who itemized their taxes rich and railed against anyone benefiting from SALT as rich. These people are workers, perhaps well paid workers as David could be if he makes a success out of his film or blog endeavors. But because he accepts an income definition of capitalist rather than a capital allocation definition, he goes too far. This is what bourgeois radicals do. They think within the context of liberals ( minimum wage vs livable wage, regressive property tax vs asset tax) and then alienate everyone.
David’s solution to well reasoned criticism of his position was “stop dumping crap on us” “cancel your subscription”. Does he actually think this is going to solve the problem?
This is what splinter left groups do all the time.
Some people say why don’t you leave the guy alone. He’s just trying to point out that $80K SALT is an enormous giveaway to rich folks by Democrats—-the party of working people that won’t even endorse $15hr minimum wage. All true.
The reason I criticize Sirota is because I could see Suozzi coming. Mr $80K is now running for Governor of NY as a Democrat. The left has no one to stop him other than overreaching William s or hack Hochul.
So I like to see outspoken journalists like Sirota take the best progressive position when they have the microphone.

Remember reading somewhere that between June of 2020 & June of 2021 Pelosi's stock portfolio increased in value by 56%. Not bad. In fact that is a better return than any professional hedge fund manager or stock broker by far. No wonder Twitter banned the Pelosi Portfolio Tracker account who's followers were also doing quite well in the market. Interesting that that same day, the Maxwell Trial Tracker account was banned as well. The corruption is so deep, it's time for a complete House cleaning.
