Carter is a Marine Corps veteran and self-described socialist who in 2017 defeated a top Republican leader to win a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates. He has filed paperwork to run for governor.
Chakrabarti is a former chief of staff for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who is now the president of New Consensus. He recently launched a new PAC called "No Excuses" designed to hold Democrats accountable to their campaign promises. The PAC is running ads against Joe Manchin in West Virginia.
