The Trump administration announced that it “intends to urge the Supreme Court to overturn” a 90-year-old precedent preventing presidents from firing appointees at independent agencies without cause. In seeking to purge the heads of the Federal Trade Commission, Consumer Product Safety Commission, and the National Labor Relations Board, the administration insists the 90-year-old precept is unconstitutional.
