Instead of Transportation Department "regulation", please consider using "protections" as an editorial default unless the context dictates use of "regulation".
After all, how many regulations do NOT have an intended purpose of protecting someone against something deemed ultimately harmful? This question itself might make an interesting topic for an essay, debate, or roundtable discussion.
Are all regulatory protections well thought out? Of course not. Many are stupidly designed and/or are otherwise counterproductive. Regardless, a protection's INTENDED purpose is (one assumes) offered in good faith.
p.s. "Regulation" is a loaded and generally rightwing term. IMO, when lefties refer to "regulation" they have already lost the policy debate. Exhibit A: "Don't Think of an Elephant," the classic work by cognitive linguist George Lakoff. In Chapter 1, he discusses precisely this dynamic, using "tax relief" as the loaded phrase. Lakoff says, once Dems bought into this GOP framing, they already lost the debate. There's more, but that's the gist.
Attn Sirota: such framing is also integral to Dems' "learned helplessness", a different but closely related topic. Bottom line: framing and usage have real consequences. Please use "protections" as a default in your editorial content. Thank you.

I'm a member of Rail Passengers Association, and I have already learned that apparently this Duffy seems hostile to Amtrak. I already don't like to fly, and if Duffy manages to eliminate passenger rail AND make flying less safe, that's going to be it for me when it comes to travel. I'm too old to drive long distances, and drivers are crazy these days. I doubt I'll be the only one who never flies again if this joker gets in.

I'm less interested in "Resisting™" and far more interested in bouncing the parasitic infestation that has taken over the Democratic leadership like ophiocordyceps.
We can't get anything done when our leadership gets as rich off Republican giveaways and corruption as anyone in the donor class.
Obama, Clinton, Schumer and the oligarchs they serve need to be run out of town on a rail first and foremost, or nothing is ever going to get done.
We need to get woke, not Woke™. Woke™ is what rich people do to distract us from raising taxes and remedying the real problem - the power disparity that comes from income inequality.
Trans/LGBTQ+/POC people also die of easily prevented diseases. They also need to afford a place to live. Passing more laws that will never be enforced isn't going to help anyone.
Getting rid of the people who already have the tools they need but are too cowardly and corrupt to use those tools are the REAL problem.
Let's clean house. Anything else is just posturing.
