Today on Lever Time, David Sirota sits down with Jerusalem-based journalist Nathan Thrall to discuss what life has been like in both Gaza and the West Bank since the Oct. 7 attack in Israel. The pair also explores what is motivating Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to continue the war, and why Netanyahu’s iron-fisted approach to the Palestinian territories may be the norm, not an outlier, in Israeli politics.
Thrall recently won the Pulitzer Prize for his book A Day in the Life of Abed Salama: Anatomy of a Jerusalem Tragedy, which examines life for Palestinians living in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Thrall’s reporting has won critical acclaim, but he’s recently faced a wave of speaking-event cancellations, which he believes is related to his criticisms of the Israeli government’s actions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
