Fighting The Oligarchy
As much of the country bends to the oligarchic pressures of President Donald Trump’s administration, most notably demonstrated by Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s capitulation to Trump’s draconian budget agenda, calls are growing across the country to hold the powerful accountable.
Tens of thousands of angered constituents are gathering en masse at each stop in the “Fighting the Oligarchy” tour led by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), building off a burgeoning movement to fight against the corporate interests that underpin the modern political establishment. (Sound familiar?) In just 10 stops across the country, more than 107,000 people have RSVPed to attend the events, and some rallies have drawn more attendees than Trump’s and former Vice President Kamala Harris’ largest presidential campaign events.
