Good things are happening! Thousands of federal workers head back to work, two red states are ahead of the clean energy curve, a judge shields climate grants, and all 50 states push for the right to own your stuff.
Trump Says “You’re Rehired!”
President Donald Trump’s administration said in court filings that it is working to rehire nearly 25,000 fired federal workers at 18 different agencies after federal judges in California and Maryland ruled their terminations were illegal. The filings indicate that Trump’s attempts to radically restructure the federal workforce and eliminate regulation may not pass muster in the courts — and the administration knows it.
The mass firings of probationary employees across the federal government were led by billionaire businessman Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), aiming to slash what Musk called wasteful spending. In court filings made in Baltimore’s federal courthouse on March 17, officials from federal agencies acknowledged for the first time that they had fired thousands of workers en masse, including 7,600 employees from the Treasury Department, 5,700 from the Department of Agriculture, and 3,200 from the Department of Health and Human Services.
